July - September update

I am long overdue for an update on how much the boys have changed over the last 6 months. But I am so behind and can't imagine not documenting all of the small stuff that happened in the meantime. So, for the sake of organization (in my mind at least) I'm going to just attempt to break this down month by month to bring my blog back into the current day. So, here we go.

July
In July, we had Canada Day, swimming - where the boys learned to jump into the pool by themselves and paddle with their muddy buddies, and a trip to Osoyoos. We were in the middle of a heat wave, and spent a lot of time outside! Lots of walks to Starbucks and time playing out in the kiddie pool in the yard. The boys started increasing their vocabulary more and more, and also graduated from their clip on high chairs to booster seats!

August
August was a great, busy month! We started off by switching the boys to toddler beds, which was a huge success. Thankfully it went really well. The boys had no problem staying in bed, and still very very rarely get out of bed. It was a huge change getting rid of the cribs though! I remember the day we decided it was time; Jamie and I were sitting downstairs when the boys were supposed to be napping... A few minutes later we hear both of them giggling as they come down the stairs, and both of them stride into the kitchen, obviously very proud of themselves! We also had an audition for X-files, which didn't go well. It was a swimming audition, and the boys normally love the water. I had to work that day so my Mom took them in the water while I watched, and they weren't a fan of me staying on the sidelines! Win some/ Lose some, right? The boys got Strider Bikes from Gramma and Poppa, and absolutely fell in love with them. The first month was mostly just walking rather than coasting, but they caught on quickly in September. We had an eye exam, which went well. They were just getting checked to make sure there were no issues from their prematurity. There was a lot of time spent at Nana's picking blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries. We went to Splashdown Park and had a great time, especially hanging out in the hot tub. Another awesome trip to the PNE with Nana and Opa, where they had a section set up for kids to learn about farming - they had so much fun! We also got another TV show role, on Minority Report. It was all day at a park in North Vancouver waiting for our 10 minutes on set, and the actual role ended up being less than 3 seconds. But Adam sure looked cute in it!!! Sadly, there was a part of August that wasn't great. Our dog Roxie got out from my parents house and wasn't found. They live on 5 acres in a very rural area, so I fear that a coyote may have gotten her. We searched for days to no avail. Roxie was 13 years old, and loved exploring.  She had been living with my parents for a while, as she didn't take too well to the boys. We take comfort in knowing that she had a long, happy life.

 September
September started with Jamie and I going out of town without the kiddos for the first time ever! We went up to Predator Ridge in Vernon to attend our friends' wedding. We missed the boys, but it sure was relaxing having two whole days to ourselves! The boys spent the first day at my parents, and the second day with my inlaws. I think they had a better time than we did! We got the boys passports, and spent a day at the zoo, which they loved. I'm excited to take them to the Seattle zoo again one day soon (if the CAD ever improves that is...) because that zoo is 1000 times better than ours. The boys went biking almost every day in September, and we spent many evenings after dinner at the BMX park. The boys caught on really quickly and absolutely love zooming through the track. September was also the month that the car obsession began. The boys love cars and pointing out all of the different makes as we go for walks around our neighbourhood. It was a great end to the warm summer season.
